Class Description
An Engineer II assigns and reviews the work of engineers or performs engineering work of an innovative, complex nature. Work of this class may involve leading engineers and supervising sub-professional engineering and other personnel.
Employees receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office setting under normal working conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
Selection Process
All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their application will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The license, training, and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application. Vagueness or omission may prevent you from being considered for the position. Qualified candidates will not be listed in rank order.
Minimum Qualifications
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience in performing engineering work.
NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES) Have a master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for the bachelor’s of science degree in engineering OR for two years of the experience requirement.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: Some positions in this class require an Engineer-In-Training certificate from the State of Maryland.
Some positions in this class require an Engineering Technologist certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
Some positions in this class require current licensure as a Professional Engineer issued by the Maryland State Board of Professional Engineers or equivalent out-of-state license.
Some positions in this class require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.

EXAMINATION PROCESS:
