Areté Associates, an employee-owned company, is a growing research and development firm recognized for contributing to national security objectives by supplying innovative solutions to challenging technical problems faced by the United States. We have an immediate opening for a  Electrical Engineer reporting to the Manager, Electrical Engineer .  This is a exempt non-supervisory full-time position. The position can reside in any of our following locations - Destin, FL  /   Tucson, AZ.

 

SUMMARY:

Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment, power electronics; communications equipment and systems; circuitry components and integrated circuits; analog and digital computers, processors, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and associated firmware; and control and test equipment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing innovative approaches and functional implementation of digital signal processing in field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).

  • Research, designs, development, and testing a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including power electronics; communications equipment and systems; circuitry components and integrated circuits;

  • Analog and digital computers, processors, FPGAs and associated firmware; and control and test equipment as the candidate is expected to utilize equally both hardware and software design practices.

     

    REQUIRED and PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate should have greater than 3 years’ (1 years with MS) experience in electrical engineering, computer engineering and/or software engineering disciplines. 

  • Must be familiar with FPGA and Processor architectures and have implemented in more than one design utilizing VHDL (preferable) or Verilog.  Have the ability to utilize basic digital logic design concepts, have a basic understanding of digital sampling theory, have an understanding of static timing analysis, and understand the differences between synchronous and asynchronous digital electronics. 

  • Experience with both 1-D and 2-D signal processing and have familiarity with Xilinx FPGA development tools including Vivado and Vivado HLS.  In addition, candidate should have knowledge of C and C++ and understanding of functional and object-oriented programming models. 

  • Prepare, participate, and present in technical briefings, such as SRR, PDR and CDR, to internal and external customers and is expected to write/support technical and cost proposal(s). 

  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain SECRET security clearance, while a current security clearance is preferred.
