Job Description

The Embedded Systems Engineer in the Applied Embedded Systems (AES) Division will perform embedded systems design and research best practices across government and industry for future development. Additionally, the Embedded Systems Engineer will research and develop architectural and design patterns within a dynamic team environment on large, complex systems with multiple moving parts.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Design printed circuit board (PCB) design
  • Develop embedded software for embedded applications
  • Produce and update design documentation
  • Develop unit tests for hardware, developed software, and provide test support needs as necessary
  • Develop technical presentations for internal peer reviews and sponsor design reviews
  • Collaborate with other researchers including developers, testers, system engineers in the development of embedded systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

10% - 25% travel

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology/Systems.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology/Systems and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology/Systems and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology/Systems.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in design printed circuit board (PCB)
  • Experience in developing embedded software for embedded applications
  • Experience in developing unit tests for hardware, developed software and test support needs as necessary
  • Experience in developing technical presentations for internal peer reviews and sponsor design reviews
  • Experience collaborating with other researchers including developers, testers, system engineers in the development of embedded systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Altium Designer for PCB design
  • Experience with lab test equipment such as logic analyzers, multimeter, and oscilloscopes
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Experience working in the Electronic Warfare domain

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
