This position will support the Deep Space Exploration Mission Operations group within Space Systems Company as the Electrical Power Subsystem Lead supporting Mars Odyssey operations, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter operations, and the LUCY spacecraft Development and Operations.

The Electronics Engineer, Spacecraft Electrical Power Systems will support the Odyssey and MRO Spacecraft during their extended missions, performing subsystem operations engineering tasks. Specific subsystem tasks include modeling and prediction of subsystem energy and bus performance during future operations, monitoring real-time Power subsystem performance, trending subsystem performance, analysis of problems and documentation of problems and corrective actions.


The Electronics Engineer will:
1. Provide subsystem inputs to systems engineering for spacecraft sequence development and review the resulting sequences for correct operation of the subsystem, for both nominal and special event sequences.
2. Review test results from spacecraft test labs and simulators for proper use and functionality of Electrical Power Subsystem components.
3. Maintain a database of current and long-term subsystem trending and performance data for quarterly and yearly reviews
4. Maintain and update software tools for sequence review, performance prediction and other tasks.
5. Support team meetings and periodic reviews. Occasionally working irregular work hours in support of special activities.

The Electronics Engineer will also support LUCY Command & Data Handling subsystem and Power subsystem S/C Development, Test and Operations. Specific skills include software development in C/C++ environments and Tool Control Language scripting using TK (TCL graphical interface).

The Electronics Engineer must possess the ability to apply advanced technical principles, techniques, theories and concepts to solve complex technical problems

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or related Engineering degree from an accredited college with equivalent experience

- Experience in the design, analysis, and/or construction of electrical components and circuits, including NiH2 battery operations or other battery technologies.

Desired skills
- Operational and developmental experience in mission operations
- Certified Principle Engineer
- Extensive knowledge and experience with the DSE C&DH and EPS architectures and test environments
-Extensive knowledge in building, maintaining, and communicating the results of Spacecraft power modeling software
- Experience with MATLAB, Unix/Linux, and SPICE or equivalent electronics Simulation Tool
- Experience with C/C++ environments and TCL/TK Scripting
- Good writing, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization and, interpersonal/team skills
- Ability to work independently and multi-task, demonstrated leadership skills, and a desire to proactively own tasks thru to closure
- Self-starter who can develop solutions to technical issues and lead small teams through the completion of technical tasks
