Job Description

The Electronic Warfare (EW) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Researcher in the Test Engineering Division (TEN) will conduct research and testing of EW and Avionics systems and lead small teams conducting research. This research involves the development of specialized hardware and software toolsets to create complex test environments for Missile Warning System (MWS), Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and Electronic Attack (EA) systems. These test environments incorporate EW engagement models, use of USG and industry test standards, open standards definition and usage of automated test frameworks.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Design hardware systems for EW Hardware in the Loop (HITL) test systems
  • Perform systems engineering for EW HITL systems
  • Debug and test of EW HITL systems
  • Prepare and conduct technical briefings for existing and potential sponsors
  • Provide guidance to less experienced researchers developing and testing EW and Avionics Systems
  • Publish or provide contributions to research papers associated with EW and Avionics systems
  • Develop and deliver test system products supporting EW systems to the sponsor community
  • Lead small to mid-sized research teams and/or projects relating to the design and development of EW and Avionics HITL test systems

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related degree field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in EW and/or Avionics systems, test systems or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of EW and Avionics Systems architecture, function and interface
  • Experience with relevant interfaces, including MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, serial, discrete and analog interfaces
  • Experience with hardware and software system debug/troubleshooting
  • Hardware and software laboratory experience
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized technical tasks and/or teams
  • Experience creating and conducting technical presentations
  • Active SECRET clearance

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
