Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) is seeking an Advanced Electronic Protection (EP) Signal Processing fellow to help guide and foster the development of advanced radar Signal Processing solutions as a member of the Algorithm and Simulation Cross Product Team in Tucson, AZ.

The Advanced EP Signal Processing Engineering Fellow will leverage a decade plus of experience in all phases of EP system design and development, and will possess a deep familiarity with Electronic Attack (EA) principles and methods, including detailed knowledge of fielded capabilities. A demonstrated ability to extend the state of the art in the area of EP is highly desirable. We are looking for someone who can grow and mentor junior engineers, while simultaneously collaborating across program and organizational boundaries to achieve results. To be successful, our expert will continue to be involved in the broader community engaged in the technical fields associated with EA/EP/Electronic Warfare (EW).

U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Skills and Education:


  • Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline, a natural or physical science, or in Mathematics
  • At least twelve (12+) years of documented engineering experience designing, implementing, and testing radar signal processing algorithms in areas such as detection and estimation, clutter rejection, feature extraction, classification, tracking, or sensor fusion.
  • At least eight (8+) years of documented accumulated experience in at least one or more of the following EP techniques: adaptive processing, super-resolution, radar parameter agility, or Low Probability of Intercept.
  • At least eight (8+) years of documented experience with systems engineering of radar systems, including participation in design reviews or peer reviews, and presenting technical briefings to both internal leadership and external customers.
  • Documented experience using C++ and MATLAB.
  • Listed on resume, authorship of intellectual property (patent disclosures) and/or conference/journal publications in applicable technical areas within the past ten (10) years.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must currently have a Department of Defense issued Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Tucson, Arizona.

Desired Skills and Education:


  • Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Strong understanding of EA and EW approaches. Experience designing EW techniques and testing victim radars with various EW approaches. Knowledge of EW systems, including the receiver and internal processing.
  • Broad experience in disciplines adjacent to radar signal processing, including modeling and simulation; guidance, navigation, and control; embedded software development; and hardware in the loop testing.
  • Existing strong relationships with industry leaders in EW such as the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, Georgia Tech Research Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, etc.
  • Experience leading large, multi-discipline teams as a Chief Engineer.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert within the industry, with prior defense contractor businesses, and among the customer base.
  • Engineering experience in missile components and systems.
  • DoD Top Secret clearance with current SSBI within last 5 years.
