Come join a creative team of engineers dedicated to designing the hardware technologies that network the leading cloud-service datacenters. We are looking for a motivated and astute individual to join our team as a Electrical Validation and Characterization Manager. As Manager of the EV-Characterization Team within the Barefoot Switch Division, you will build and mentor an organization with expertise in Ethernet related OIF, IEEE, and IETF specifications.

In this role, you will work with the team in the hardware lab demonstrating device conformance and exploring the limitations and behavior of our ASICs. You will also lead engagements with High-Speed IO suppliers and coordinate the IP selection process and help in bringing to market high-speed SerDes including future 224G technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Solid State Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years in electrical validation characterization.
  • 3+ years engineering management experience.
  • 1+ years characterization engineering experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of PCIe and Ethernet Protocols.

Preferred qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in/with the following:

  • Knowledge of networking industry reliability expectations and requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of hardware components of ethernet.
  • Understanding of high-speed characterization principles.
  • Familiar with TX, RX, PLL measurement requirements and methodologies.
  • Characterization of gigabit transceiver for 1-28Gbs NRZ and 56-224Gbs PAM4 coding.
  • Measure and characterize SerDes PHYs (PLL, CDR, Jitter Analysis and Jitter Tolerance).
  • Familiarity with the design and implementation of high speed SerDes.
  • Familiarity with SerDes architecture sub-components such as CDR, PLL, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of bench test equipment: high bandwidth sampling / real-time scopes, spectrum analyzers, BERT and TDR from major equipment vendors.
  • Test automation scripting for system boards and lab equipment.
  • Python and/or R scripting experience.

Ideal candidate would also have experience in/with the following:

  • 5+ years direct engineering experience in characterization or product engineering.
  • 5+ years relevant engineering management experience.
  • Experience defining, staffing, and managing characterization of networking products.
  • Experience with semiconductor characterization methodologies.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and test methods.
  • Knowledge of networking industry expectations with respect to quality and performance.
  • Knowledge of specialized tests used in networking industry.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with industry specific test equipment.
  • Knowledge of process effects on characterization requirements.
  • Experience defining hardware types and capabilities in a characterization environment.
  • System Level Test methodologies.
  • Environmental forcing options.
  • Thermonics, environmental chambers, hot/cold chucks etc.
  • Statistical validity calculations.
  • Experience with managing and/or characterizing high power semiconductor products.
  • Experience with system level characterization of networking products.
  • Knowledge of industry environmental requirements of networking products and systems.
  • Experience building and maintaining highly motivated teams.
