Description:Lockheed Martin Corporation's Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) business is in search of experienced professionals to join the team in Owego, NY.

Note: This position covers Radio Frequency (RF), Firmware, Hardware, Digital Board Design, Hardware, Power, Optical and EMI/EMC Engineering positions. It also covers Printed Wiring Board Layout (Physical Design) positions as well.

In this important role, the engineer will collaborate with other engineering disciplines and program personnel and will participate in cross functional six sigma style product or process improvement meetings. Keeping up-to-date on emerging technologies and tools will be encouraged.

This position is for the Advanced Integrated Products organization, which focuses on design, development qualification and integration of airborne avionics equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills.

A working knowledge of electronic measurement equipment is a plus. This may include the ability to take measurements using an oscilloscope and a Digital Volt Meter, or use of a Spectrum Analyzer and/or a Measurement receiver. Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

The ability to obtain a security clearance is required.

Digital Board Design (Electrical Engineering):
- A Digital Board Design engineer specializes in the design, development and verification of Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) with digital high speed interfaces
- Analog and power supply circuit design
- Experience with PWB Design Tools (Zuken, Mentor, Cadence etc.)
- Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering Expertise
- High density PCB design that includes Power, Digital, and Analog layouts
- Experience with PCIe, DDR3, Ethernet and other high speed digital interfaces
- Familiarity with processor design & architecture
Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
- A Digital Signal Process Engineering specializes in the design, development and integration of algorithms, specifically for Electronic Ware (EW) and Radar Applications.
- Strong knowledge of digital filter design and implementation, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), ADCs and DACs, and Pulse Compression.
- Experience leading complex hardware development programs through design, qualification and production delivery
- Experience with algorithm development as it pertains to Angel of Arrival (AoA) and Geo-Location
- Familiarity with EW Emitters, DSP and jamming techniques
Optical Engineer
- Experience with one or more of the following subject areas - thin film structures, optical materials, surface polish and figure, diffractive optics, nanostructures and non-linear optics.
- Must understand the requirements for the optics, perform modeling calculations and define specifications for optics manufacturing. The candidate will collaborate with external and internal suppliers to manufacture and test optics.
- Responsibilities will include but not be limited to designing and specifying optics, reviewing test data, and signing off on performance and quality of optics for delivery on major programs.
- Additional responsibilities will be proposal writing and seeking external funding sources for advanced optics research and development.

EMI/EMC Engineer:
- An EMI/EMC engineering specializes in the design, development and testing of products as it related to EMI/EMC requirements.
- Experience with hardware design for Electromagnetic Interference / Compatibility (EMI/EMC) and requirements / procedures of MIL-STD-461, 464 and DO-160 testing standards
- Knowledge of EM theory to apply design techniques and design features to control electromagnetic (EM) emissions (intentional and un-intentional) and susceptibilities

Physical Design (Electrical Engineering)
- A physical design engineer develops the layout solution for printed wiring board designs including generation of associated manufacturing data (gerber, drill, ODB++ etc.)
- Zuken CR-5000 or other PWB design tool experience (Mentor Graphics or Cadence) is desired.
- Experience with flex and rigid flex PWB design
- Experience with multi-layer, single and double sided designs
- Experience with blind, buried, and micro vias with sequential laminate composition
- Experience routing High Speed, Highly constrained digital interfaces including PCIe, DDR3 Memory and Gigabit Ethernet.
- Experience with fine pitch surface mount devices with a pitch <1mm
- Experience leading a team of 3 or more individuals focused on Printed Wiring Board Layout
- Experience designing PWBs for producibility and reliability (IPC-610)
- Experience developing PWBs for EMI/EMC applications (DO-160, MIL-STD-461)
Desired Skills:
Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer:
- An RF Engineer designs and develops RF circuitry and Architecture used in high frequency and microwave applications, including receivers, transmitters, antennas, frequency synthesizers, low noise amplifiers, high power amplifiers, RF conversion elements, and transmission line equipment.
- Responsible for hardware layout, component evaluation, prototype construction, and test including link analysis and optimization, accounting for the effects of propagation medium and possible interference sources.
- Performs cascade analysis, modeling, simulation, troubleshooting, and test of various RF Subsystems, circuits and, components.
- The individual should be proficient in design and simulation tools such as PSpice, HFSS, CST MW Studio, FEKO, ADS, AWR Microwave Office, SystemVue, Zuken, MATLAB and/or LabVIEW.

Firmware (FPGA) Engineering
- A Firmware Engineer will perform FPGA firmware design utilizing VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog or higher-level coding techniques such as CUDA or OpenCL and targeting either Xilinx or Altera devices.
- Utilizes the Xilinx Vivado, Plan Ahead and/or Altera Questra development platforms to successfully build and test an executable hardware implementation of code which they have written
- Designs may include high speed data interfaces, memory interfaces, timing and control, DSP, and interfaces to analog devices.
- Uses current technology such as Microprocessors, DSPs, and Interface Controllers as needed.
- Verifies design compliance using hardware simulation tools such as ModelSim and MATLAB/Simulink, and support hardware verification.

Hardware Engineer
- A Hardware Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to both electrical and mechanical engineers performing a diverse array of tasks. This is a high level coordination responsibility that leads all engineering efforts across a program.
- Single Point of POC for all Hardware related topics for supporting organizations (Systems and Software Engineering, Program Office, Chiefs Organization)
- Experience with the Hardware Development Process and Time-Phased Checklists.
- Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
- Checks completed drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.

Power Engineer
- A Power Engineer provides technical support and detailed design efforts for various Power Supply designs.
- Determines power needs and design power circuits and subsystems to meet such needs.
- Conducts trade studies, perform dynamic analyses, interface with vendors, and test power and analog circuitry.
- Uses Power System Simulation and Modeling (PSIM) when appropriate.
- Should have knowledge of Power Systems design including Linear and Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) and AC/DC and DC/DC Converter Design.

STE Design Engineer
- A Special Test Equipment Engineer will support either hardware or software development of Special Test Equipment used to test RF/Digital/Analog/Power modules, sub-systems, and systems.
- Follows documented development process for design, implementation, and validation of test equipment. The individual will design and produce related artifacts.
- Includes electrical drawings, assembly drawings, and parts list for hardware development.
- Working knowledge of LabVIEW or test instrumentation is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to understand drawing packages and schematics.
