What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Product Realization Team lead. The selected applicant will lead an outstanding team of engineers, and other staff, in support of development, qualification and production activities. Activities will support Integrated Surety Architectures (ISA) with impacts to both Safeguards Transporter (SGT) and Mobile Guardian Transporter (MGT).

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Manage transfer of development products to the production facility
  • Support production tester development and qualification
  • Address production challenges, disposition product, evaluate changes, and provide overall design guidance
  • Lead the program’s budget and schedule and align desired results and milestones with the mission
  • Provide high level briefs to internal and external customers and partners

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field, such as Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering, plus 5 years related experience
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to obtain DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire

  • Active DOE Q clearance
  • Advanced degree in above stated fields
  • Demonstrated ability building enduring and effective partnerships
  • At least 2 years' project lead experience to include management of budget, risk & schedule
  • Experience in program management requirements, evaluation and implementation
  • Experience leading teams consisting of cross-laboratory representation
  • Possess a strong dedication to positive teaming dynamic, strong written and verbal skills, detail oriented with a keen focus on customer service
  • Experience working with production agencies (e.g., KCNMO)
  • Experience in implementing risk management programs and developing risk mitigation plans
  • Experience with one or more of the following areas:
    • Product Qualification
    • Product Development Lifecycle
    • Tester Development and Qualification
    • Electronics Prototyping
    • RF and Wireless Communications
    • Embedded Systems
    • Firmware Development

About Our Team

We are responsible for the development and integration of command, control, and communication technologies used in specialized transportation security systems. The department conducts research and development activities in the areas of high consequence software systems, custom embedded circuit design, wireless network communications, intelligent power conditioning and distribution, navigation systems, and sensors.

Major programs supported by the department include the Safeguards Transporter (SGT), development of a new high security system called the Mobile Guardian Transporter (MGT) and an advanced concept surety programs called Integrated Surety Architectures (ISA). Robust security protection for transportation systems face many unique challenges, and requires extensive investigation and analysis of sophisticated system attacks and the associated development of countermeasures to defend and protect against such attacks. The use of modeling and simulation tools assists in the investigation, exploration, and development of new design approaches, algorithms, and design of experiments to validate system capabilities.
