Designs and documents magnetic components, power and electromagnetic assemblies and their value-added assemblies:

  • Provides an optimum design solution for the customer’s application.
  • Prepares an accurate cost estimate for quotation purposes based on the design.
  • Provides a product that has been designed for manufacturability and considers the available resources and capabilities in the design and manufacturing assumptions.
  • Manages DFMEA process and actions for products designed

Serves on assigned engineering projects as well as cross-functional projects.

  • Adherence to company policies, QMS and any other special job requirements
  • Develop and enhance magnetics understanding by designing and prototyping of the application circuit.
  • Stays abreast of regulatory changes to ensure company compliance.
  • Works with customers and/or their specification for assigned parts to identify their needs.
  • Perform design input, output, verification and validation reviews cross-functionally
  • Designs a magnetic component that not only meets the functional requirements but is also cost effective, designed for manufacturability and meets safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Designs, documents and coordinates the product design, prototype process, verification and validation of assigned products. Provides on going support for those products.
  • Interfaces with other engineers, documentation, product management, customer service, manufacturing, purchasing, quality assurance, and scheduling to ensure that the project is completed properly, on time and within budget.
  • Understand and design products to meet the requirements of various regulatory agencies such as UL, CSA, IEC as well as ITAR and others, and will assist in qualification process.
  • Works and communicates effectively with prototype and production personnel.
  • Interfaces and follows-up with customers on both new and existing opportunities.
  • Generates cost estimates for quotation purposes based on the applicable design.
  • Reviews and approves engineering change orders (ECOs) for assigned parts to ensure both customer requirements and the company's capabilities and processes are met.
  • Interfaces with and supports the sales function and provides technical follow-up on outstanding quotes.
  • Shares technical knowledge with others within the engineering work group.
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities for process/cost improvement
  • Participates with leadership to establish individual and team priorities and performance requirements to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develops and maintains project schedules for major projects to optimize resource utilization and milestone deliverables.
  • Contributes to new product strategies and product related website implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or physics with an emphasis on power conversion, analog electronics, or magnetic theory
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • 3-5 years magnetic coil, transformer, and power supply designs within an ISO, and / or AS9100  regulatory environment required.
  • Familiar with AC/DC, DC/DC, and AC/DC power conversion topologies and their magnetics design requirement required.
  • Experience in CAD software such as Solidworks required.
  • Experience in design, prototype and test switch-mode power supplies is desirable
  • Experienced in Finite Element Analysis software is strongly desirable.
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense electromagnetics and power supply design and packaging solutions is strongly desirable.
  • Experience is medical electromagnetics design and applications is strongly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially in Excel
  • Proficiency in ERP software
