Job Description

Intel's 3D XPoint is a new breakthrough in non-volatile memory (NVM) technology and is revolutionizing the NVM landscape and storage/memory as we know it. This is one of the key pillars for Intel Optane Groups (IOG) growth and is a critical element of Intel's overall connected platform strategy. We are looking for Technology Development Engineers in Metrology and Defect Inspection area.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing defect scans which detect rogue tools, integrated defect issues, and predict end of line yield impacts.
  • Creating custom metrics for solving new problems and testing them against data models.
  • Developing defect reduction roadmaps to drive defect improvement based on both known impact and program risk factors.
  • Creating die loss models based on end of line correlation to in-line defect detection.
  • Building classification/binning guides to allow defect data analysis based on root cause.
  • Developing and driving automated metrics where possible to improve total throughput time and response accuracy.
  • Implementing process control monitoring strategies to detect out of control events which require intervention.
  • Creating strong responses to defect events to allow 24/7 disposition during preliminary, ramp, and high-volume stages of product lifecycle.
  • Monitoring and optimizing all defect scans throughout the design process to deliver a defect monitoring strategy to HVM which has maximum defect detection with minimal sampling and reduced work content.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • In depth understanding of semiconductor process flow and potential defect contributors.
  • A creative mindset that enables you to propose novel defect formation mechanisms.
  • Utilizing strong analytical skillset to search for meaningful defect correlations among suspect operations.

The ideal candidate should also demonstrate the following behavioral traits:

  • Demonstrate experience with technical problem solving skills, with multitasking.
  • Be a fast learner, easily adapts to the culture and the technology.
  • Be flexible in accommodating changing priorities and working hours to support business needs.

  • Demonstrated capability working in a high performing team culture which includes excellent teamwork and leadership skills, demonstrated problem solving and prioritization skills.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must have a MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry or related field.
5+ years of experience in the following areas:

  • Semiconductor FAB processing.
  • Statistical Process Control SPC or Design of Experiments DOE principles.
  • Semiconductor process development.

Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in the following areas:

  • Volatile and/or non-volatile memory.
  • Design of experiments (DOE) principles.
  • Data analysis and statistical process control (JMP, SQL, PCS).
  • Semiconductor process flow.
  • Process capability, true spec, and variance.
