The Panel, Process, and Optics (PPO) organization is looking for a hardworking metrology engineer to join a team that is making a big difference in the future of Apple. A successful candidate will not only need to understand existing metrology and test concepts, but also architect and execute new solutions for groundbreaking technologies. The team features a broad engineering roster including optical engineers, human perception specialists, product design engineers, and experimental physicists, which presents an outstanding opportunity to influence and learn from a diverse group of specialists.
Key Qualifications
- Prior experience with designing and building optical, display, or camera measurement setups, and performing hands-on measurements
- Experience using CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, etc.) and implementing mechanical design principles
- Experience using optical simulation software (Zemax, LightTools, Code V, FRED, etc.)
- Capable of prototyping, conducting design of experiments, and analytical data processing
Description- Identify novel optical test and characterization techniques to measure key performance metrics of sophisticated optical and/or display systems
- Design and build custom metrology systems and perform hands-on measurements in the lab
- Use optical simulation tools to analyze new characterization systems and assess their encouraged performance and limitations
- Identify and implement optical metrics and specifications that matter to customer perception
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to develop and bring up test platforms, perform statistical analysis of data to determine performance and quality
- Future travel to suppliers (up to 15%) to support engineering builds, and help with failure analysis activities
