Apple's Litigation Group is seeking an experienced Discovery Manager to join the Litigation Operations team. We are looking for a leader to provide expert advice on the development and continuous evolution of the Apple Discovery program and initiatives as well as handle implementation of improvements.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience working with legal departments or in the litigation support area with a focus in eDiscovery processes and leading eDiscovery projects across the stages of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)
  • Detailed knowledge of the litigation lifecycle including relevant Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and local discovery rules
  • Strong leadership skills; sets clear priorities and performance goals for the team and eliminates barriers to the team's success
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with matrixed reporting while delegating to your team
  • Ability to champion and facilitate collaboration by cultivating relationships, mentoring, and effectively communicating with teammates and cross-functional partners
  • Sound business judgment and ability to handle multiple wide-ranging matters, conflicting priorities, while exploring new areas of expertise as business needs change
  • Work in conjunction with the Litigation Operations Manager and senior leadership to develop improvements through identification and analysis of problems, appropriate scoping of projects, and timely execution of identified solutions
  • Interest in and ability to identify gaps, propose solutions, and take ownership of projects while balancing time, quality, cost, and risk
  • Experience communicating technical matters to non-technical decision makers in a clear and concise manner within all levels of an organization
  • Define, communicate, and uphold litigation and eDiscovery operating standards for the larger operational goals of litigation support
  • Proven ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues quickly and effectively in a positive and practical manner
  • Comfort with providing large-scale trainings in the areas of litigation and eDiscovery

Description

In this role, you will lead a team of litigation specialists to deliver enterprise-class support to multiple pre-litigation and litigation matters in the areas of overall case management, litigation research, eDiscovery, and matter health reporting. You will help set and run key initiatives for the team, work with cross-functional partners and address project milestones, issues, and solutions. You will provide mentorship and structured training to the litigation team, including eDiscovery and trial support. You will ensure the team is current on internal policies and processes and is adhering to industry standards. You will be responsible for developing and drafting Apple's methodologies with respect to all phases of the EDRM. You will collaborate with your team and in-house attorneys on proportional and defensible eDiscovery strategies, including data minimization and the application of technology to optimize review efficiencies. You will orchestrate Apple's Technology Assisted Review (TAR) initiative, including providing trainings, keeping up with current caselaw and technologies as they emerge, and working with vendors, specialists, and counsel to build defensible strategies.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree and ACEDS Certification. Training and coursework in the fields of computer forensics, litigation support, Agile methodology, and/or leadership desirable.
