The Siri Data organization is looking for a seasoned Analytics leader. You will significantly scale your team and partner across all engineering groups building Siri. You will build the culture and process for using data to measure, understand and improve our product and features. You will deeply understand how Siri works, partner end to end to add value, uncover insights, identify opportunities, and help drive the direction of Siri across Apple hardware, software and services, today and in the years to come
The person we're looking for has a background that fuses engineering, data science, and product management: a strong engineering background, but has always leaned toward data analysis and has years of experience managing a team that loves to dive into data and build business insights and models to help products grow

In this role you will:
-Grow and scale a distributed analytics organization. This includes a spectrum of roles within analytics - data engineering, data modeling, instrumentation design, metric design, metric development, dashboard creation, data visualization, insights and opportunity identification, analytics engineering, predictive analytics, causal inference
-Partner with partner teams such as Data Infrastructure, Client and Server Engineering teams
-Partner and embed with teams developing Siri (optimizing experiences and models)
-Work with teams across Apple to guide future development
-Educate and evangelize best practices in measurement and metrics
-Influence the roadmaps of partners and collaborators developing the Siri product, infrastructure, and data and analytics infrastructure
-Ensure the Analytics environment is conducive to productive collaborative work by your team, and partner with various data infrastructure teams to make it so
-Be responsible for executive reporting and product reporting, such that it drives action and is utilized in decision making and prioritization and continuous product improvement

Scope of Impact
-Build and lead a team of data scientists who learn about the Siri user experience to inform the development of what Siri can do. Example areas include user-facing features such as using Siri to stay in touch, be entertained, and do more in the home hands-free, but also areas related to Siri's computational architecture, including Automatic Speech Recognition, Natural Language Understanding, and 3rd party development frameworks like SiriKit
-Develop a strong consultancy approach that understands how to support and inform decisions over a large, complex feature development organization
-Build partnerships with peer teams to enable Siri feature engineers to self-serve information that hones their week-to-week development priorities
-Guide well-designed, purposeful instrumentation of the customer experience so that data can inform Siri's evolution
-Drive high-impact exploratory analyses and investigations to enrich the Siri org's understanding of how people use Siri across many settings and over time
-Build team capabilities (through hiring, training, tools, and process) that enable the reproducible, transparent, trusted work that influences decisions

Management Style

You know how to:
-Recruit, hire and nurture people who are not only great technically but also demonstrate success in the highly collaborative, functional environment of innovation at Apple
-Lead a large distributed team while keeping them connected, collaborating, inspired; whereby they understand how their work ladders into the bigger picture, mission, and vision
-Give crisp feedback to your team that balances opportunities for growth with vision to inspire
-Assess difficult trade-offs, triage, and know that sometimes moving slowly now is critical to unlocking fast progress later
-Work in service of something larger without creating a service org. Your team can deliver what is needed but also redefine what is possible
-You model detailed thinking and crisp communication
-You are humble and lead by example. You have compassion for your colleagues and the challenges they face but can drive a controversial direction when needed
-You care about craft. You appreciate that tools impose structure on how we think. And you can identify when love of craft is getting in the way of impact
-Move up and down the ladder of abstraction and help your team do so as well. You can talk and design on technical matters but are always able to connect that work to the impact it is in service of
