Intel's Ethernet Product Group (EPG) SW is experiencing rapid growth at an exciting time in the ethernet networking market and technology. We are looking for an experienced Director of Software Strategy to define our software solutions and drive our SW competitive analysis. The role focuses on partnering with customers to influence the EPG product roadmap and influence the role of SW in product definition. The position requires a combination of business acumen, organization savvy, networking capabilities, and expertise in specific technology domains. The candidate will visit customers, understand their solutions and use-cases, run competitive strategic planning processes, define SW milestones, and participate in multiple strategic task forces. The position requires cross-disciplinary collaboration to build a holistic software roadmap that delivers business outcomes.

The role will include the following expectations:

  • Craft a SW strategy for a converged architecture across three product lines; Infrastructure Processing Unit(IPU), foundational network interface cards (FNICs), and networking IP for standard SOC products

  • Articulate the business value to senior decision-makers and executives to get buy-in

  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, sales, marketing, and other internal stakeholders to execute the technical strategy

  • Remove inefficiencies through novel streamlined processes, integrating agile into our planning and execution methodologies

  • Define a decision-making structure for Pathfinding and existing SW POR programs

  • Present Intel's networking SW vision externally at conferences


Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in the ethernet products market, with a good understanding of the customer needs in the cloud, telco, and enterprise market segments
  • Deep technical knowledge of Cloud IaaS / PaaS technologies and the related infrastructure hardware offloading required to build high-performance systems
  • Proven understanding of the Linux networking stack ecosystem
  • Strategic thinker who is able to identify opportunities and alternatives while influencing a large team to execute on them
  • Solid analytical skills, a predisposition toward data-driven decision-making, and an ability to reason in the face of ambiguous, imperfect data.
  • Successful Project/product management experience, including financial acumen for cost and potential return analysis
  • Proven experience influencing leaders through clear, concise, and effective communication (written, verbal, presentations)
  • BS in Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and driving a sustainable product roadmap
  • Knowledge of SDN, virtualization, containers, distributed systems and microservices
  • Development experience in one or more of storage, networking, or security SW stacks
  • MBA is desirable
