The RMD headquarters in Tucson, AZ, seeks a subject matter expert in High Power Microwave (HPM) and Pulse Power to serve as an Engineering Fellow in our organization. This Engineering Fellow will be required to interface with the customer(s) and to senior management in R&D science & technology, planning and executing the program(s). The HPM Engineering Fellow is responsible for contributing to multiple program and research and development efforts within the High Power Microwave and Pulsed Power Areas of the Directed Energy Business. The primary focus will be counter-electronics weapons with a Probability of Kill greater than 1. This position requires an experienced senior technical and business leader with a proven track record of invention, capture, and successful execution in High Power Microwave (HPM) and Pulse Power technologies.

This engineer is responsible for development of near-term and long-term R&D areas in HPM technologies. Responsibilities include identification and qualification of IRAD and CRADA business to meet or exceed company objectives in various mission area(s). The HPM Pulse Power Fellow is responsible for developing and executing on strategic plans and technology roadmaps, win strategies for opportunities, and executing advanced demonstration programs that provide new capabilities for the war fighter. Effectively collaborating and interacting at all levels of the business to develop roadmaps to insert the technologies being developed into future products will be critical. Program revenues in excess of $10M annually will be a benchmark of performance.

The HPM Engineering Fellow will work with engineering management and other departments to help staff the program(s) and ensure the timely delivery of products and services in accordance with the contract(s) and will be responsible for preparing proposals and supporting negotiations for new programs. Customer interfaces are across DoE, DoD, Federal Agencies and labs.

Security Clearance Requirement: Existing Secret Clearance (Top Secret desired)

Required Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Masters Degree in engineering disciplines, hard science, mathematics, or physics
  • Minimum of 12 years engineering experience in HPM and Pulsed Power and/or testing.
  • A senior HPM and Pulsed Power Leader with work experience leading and/or working with HPM and Pulse Power technology advancement.
  • Experience working with program team(s) or other stakeholders resulting in capturing strategic program EMD or strategic program(s) within HPM technologies and demonstrations.
  • Work experience in defense project planning, proposal and program management.
  • Other engineering experience to include: system simulation and system requirements, or weapon systems employment and/or operations
Desired Education, Skills and Experience:
  • PhD degree in aforementioned disciplines. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
  • Familiarity with the military strategic planning methodologies and the associated organizations.
  • Knowledge and experience with US Air Force, US Army and/or US Navy R&D processes.
  • Experience in R&D programs to develop military systems.
  • Broad based technical background with experience in systems design and integration experience.
