The Mears Group, Inc. requires a Direct Examination Operations Manager in Heber City, UT. Under direct supervision of the Director of Operations, and with additional direction from the Engineering Manager, the DE Operations Manager will perform the following job duties: Manage all aspects of the relationship for assigned clients, including leading visits to client sites, generating revenue by securing work from assigned clients, being the primary point of contact for assigned clients, and managing all client communication. Manage multi-million dollar project client portfolios. Develop, implement and maintain project execution planning and management that will ensure assigned projects are completed safely, on-time, within budget, and to the quality standards required by both the client and the company. Provide guidance to project staff in order to achieve their full understanding of the scope of work and contract terms. Supervise essential project duties including cost and labor tracking, material submittals, subcontractor management, contract compliance, and take corrective action to meet project goals. Responsible for compliance and implementation of the ECDA process, including the technical evaluations and analyses conducted throughout the assessment. These include, but are not limited to, the feasibility analysis, indirect inspection tool selection, ECDA region selection, indirect inspection and direct examination data analysis, remaining strength evaluation, root cause analysis, reclassification, reprioritization, remaining life calculations and assessment of ECDA effectiveness. Assume Cathodic Protection ("CP") related responsibilities including conducting independent corrosion surveys, analysis of CP data, preparation of reports and taking action to analyze and address the CP facilities that aren't being sufficiently protected from external corrosion. Prepare and deliver monthly CP inspection reports which include the corrosion status of the piping systems, assessment of any trends from the surveys and report any significant fault or deterioration that may have affected the corrosion protection and cause an integrity threat. Provide engineering expertise for the assessment and design for mitigation of high voltage alternating current interference on buried pipelines, in order to prevent damage due to AC influenced corrosion and/or electrical fault conditions. This expertise includes AC interference modeling, targeted field testing, and engineering assessment and mitigation designs. Provide engineering expertise for the assessment and design for direct current interference on buried pipelines. Including the development and application of multi-phased targeted field-testing programs. Perform corrosions control failure analysis to determine root-cause, working in conjunction with company metallurgists and laboratory personnel, and developing remediation action plans. Perform follow-up commissioning testing and surveys for designed mitigation systems and provided engineering support during construction and installation. Develop specialized procedures and practices for unique operating scenarios, which may include, but are not limited to, guidance for safety, integrity assessment programs or the evaluation of remedial measures. Develop and implement algorithm prediction modeling for life prediction of critical infrastructure assets. Direct and supervise the work of a team of direct examination technicians. In the absence of the Engineering Manager, oversees the operations of the Engineering department. Travel required 40% of the time.Position Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or closely related Engineering discipline, or foreign equivalent, plus four years' (48 months) of engineering experience in Asset Integrity including corrosion control engineering analysis and designs, technical support, AC interference modeling, targeted field testing, and engineering assessment and mitigation designs. Must include two years' (24 months) experience using predictive analysis; two years' (24 months) of onsite project management experience for at least 10 projects, with direct client interaction. Two years' (24 months) experience is required and must include: develop and apply multi-field testing programs in the assessment and design for mitigation of high voltage alternating current interference on buried pipelines; implement, assess and ensure compliance of the ECDA process; experience in design of (high voltage) direct current interface on buried pipelines; CP project development and proposal drafting; CP project management for projects over $1 million in value; experience in AutoCAD, Pictometry, AND/OR GIS project management software tools; and experience working cross-functionally between field and office locations. Certifications required: NACE Cathodic Protection CP-2 certification, or ability to obtain certification.
