This position will Design, deliver, and support commercially available engineering software for RMD Software Engineers who leverage DevOps principles to enable digital transformation and engineering efficiencies. Develop, automate, and package software solutions to enable our Engineers to begin utilizing capabilities faster and more reliably to support our global customer programs!
This role within RMD Digital Technology (DT) is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Solution Delivery organization. The primary responsibility for this position is design, deliver, and support complex software solutions for our Software engineering users.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Deliver and maintain commercially available software solutions, including client and server based applications
Develop automation using industry standard languages and technologies to streamline and simplify application deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and upgrade activities
Investigate and provide answers to application related questions surrounding usage, best practices, and problems
Author documentation capturing processes, procedures, work instructions, and design artifacts
Administer and maintain solution security and compliance by leading hardening, patching, recovery, and upgrade efforts via partnerships with other IT functions
Develop software tool customization and automation, including the development of templates, dashboards and scripts required to support engineering needs
Provide technical guidance to management to support solution infrastructure requirements, tool selection, license purchase decisions, and problem resolution
Develop and execute on tool retirement/migration plans to enable program continuity during transitions to newer solutions and technologies
Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing via technical guidance and mentorship to colleagues
This role is being multi-level based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and position requirements. The position is flexible in location and can be filled in either the greater Boston-MA or Tucson-AZ areas.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelor degree in IT or STEM is required and additional 4 years of directly related experience or a Master degree in IT/STEM and 2 years of direct experience or lieu of degree must have 8 year of direct experience
4 years of experience deploying, supporting, customizing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and administrating Atlassian products including Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket
Experience participating on Agile teams with familiarity of Agile concepts, methodologies, and development frameworks
Experience administrating RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft operating systems
Proficiency with relational databases and an ability to troubleshoot backup/recovery, connectivity, and availability issues (Oracle, MySql, and/or MSSQL)
Experience in a technical support role with a passion and the tenacity for solving challenging technical problems in a fast-paced and complex environment with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Highly organized with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization as an individual and in a team setting, with a focus on attention to detail and time management
Experience with Infrastructure as Code/deployment automation platforms (Chef Automate, Ansible, Puppet, Chocolatey, etc.)
Experience deploying and/or supporting other modern DevOps software including GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Collaborator, Coverity, Azure Devops Server, and/or Jenkins
Experience/familiarity with other source code management tools such as IBM ClearCase, ClearQuest, Team Concert and Synergy
Experience with container technology (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
Experience with web-centric technologies like WebSphere, Tomcat, XML/XSL, HTML, Javascript, HTTPS/SSL/TLS, and LDAP
Working knowledge of networking, security, storage, and operating system concepts in order to troubleshoot and resolve issues that impact application availability and/or stability
Experience working with and supporting virtualization technology and cloud (VMWare, Docker, AWS)
Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
Technical lead and/or project management experience
Significant applicable work experience will be considered in lieu of degree
