Job Description

The Aerospace Transportation and Advanced Systems Laboratory – Aerospace and Acoustics Technologies Division (ATAS-AATD) of GTRI is searching for an experienced Embedded Engineer/Programmer with experience in digital signal processing and embedded systems development to work on several ongoing DoD and non-DoD sponsored projects. The candidate should possess a solid knowledge of basic digital signal processing concepts as well as the ability to translate these concepts into code to run on embedded systems. The desired candidate must be a solid communicator who can work within a dynamic team environment to support design and development of complex systems. The desired candidate should also have knowledge of software architecture design and experience in its application. Moreover, the candidate should have familiarity with the peer review publishing process and be able to perform literary reviews of both conference and journal papers on different topics. Furthermore, the candidate should have familiarity working in a laboratory environment and performing data acquisition of different signals.

Job Duties:

  • Develop embedded code for real-time systems
  • Adapt & translate existing Matlab code for real-time systems
  • Initiates, designs, implements, and evaluates signal studies and data collection to support research projects
  • Develop and analyze digital signal processing algorithms on real time or near real time systems using embedded devices
  • Organizes results of studies into written form for publication, presentation, or dissemination in form of technical reports and manuscripts

25% - 50% travel

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other appropriate field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program relevant to this position will be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Electrical and Computer Engineer ideally in an applied research environment
  • Expertise in C/C++ embedded software development of digital signal processing algorithms
  • Experience using Matlab in support to research projects
  • Excellent written and oral proficiency in the use of the English language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desired project/task management, writing and presentation skills, documentation, report and proposal preparation

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
