Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Python or Java developer to architect software with the user and business process in mind. We are located on Georgia Tech’s campus in Tech Square: an area that merges industry, academia, start-ups, and research institutions. Our team is looking for a smart, innovative development/task lead to join a program of developers, designers, testers, and documentation experts. Job Duties

  • Plan, architect, automate, configure and deploy cloud-based development and production infrastructure necessary for building and hosting applications. This includes source code repository, web server, application server, and database servers
  • Utilize experience with authentication and role-based authorization to restrict access to content
  • Be responsible for software development and technical leadership on 1-2 mid-to-large systems
  • Implement new work-flow processes based on business processes
  • Implement system-to-system interfaces such as web services

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program relevant to this position will be considered. Candidate must have a graduation date of no later than December, 2019
  • Applicant should have strong demonstrated skills in Java, Python, or C++ on a non-classroom/class project system.
  • Must have 2 of the following skills:
    • Java,
    • Python,
    • Django,
    • React,
    • Angular,
    • Rest/Web Services,
    • Web Security,
    • MySQL,
    • Ansible,
    • Hadoop,
    • Shell Scripting, or
    • NoSQL

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with setting up, planning, and deploying a large system on AWS or Azure. Experience with deploying a system that was used or working on a complex long-running project.
  • Working knowledge and experience with debuggers, profilers, and installers
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and OO design
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong planning, communication, and troubleshooting skills

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
