We have an opening for a Department Administrator. You will apply your talents and expertise in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will participate as a member of the senior management team in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of all aspects of day-to-day personnel and operation activities. This position is in the Facilities & Infrastructure (F&I) Department, within the Operations & Business (O&B) Principal Directorate.

Essential Duties
- Participate, as a member of the Department Senior Management Team, in formulation of departmental policy and decision making in areas such as operational, business, and strategic planning.
- Assess, manage, direct, implement, and oversee department administrative and human resources processes and procedures, including staffing and hiring, reclassifications, employee relations issues, training, corrective actions, strategic planning, performance appraisal, and salary management.
- Supervise the administrative staff; setting work direction, overseeing the execution of tasks, developing goals, career development, mentoring, and assessing performance.
- Assess adherence to and assure department compliance with and consistent application of LLNL Personnel Policies, procedures, organizational objectives, and long-range goals and objectives.
- Keep senior management apprise on sensitive personnel issues and disciplinary actions.
- Consult with appropriate LLNL subject matter experts in Human Resources, Health Services, and Staff Relations.
- Coordinate and respond to various Directorate requests, requirements, and deliverables, and perform special assignments as required. Represent the F&I Department on administrative and HR matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- AA degree in a business related field or equivalent combination of significant experience and education in a related business, operational, and/or organizational area.
- Supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership and team building skills to effectively build and manage administrative personnel who support multidisciplinary groups.
- Comprehensive knowledge of recruiting, hiring, performance management and employee relations practices and an understanding of HR compliance requirements for hiring FLSA, ADA, EEO, etc., and experience interpreting and applying a wide variety of personnel policies and procedures.
- Advanced administrative and organizational skills; detail oriented, flexible and experienced in independently coordinating and prioritizing multiple and complex work activities, often with conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with short deadlines and frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact, discretion, and mature judgment to interact with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines at all levels internal and external to the Laboratory.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex issues by applying data analysis principles and techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of computers and associated software and experience developing complex reports for use in management decision making.

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in relevant field with experience as an HR Generalist, Manager or Business Partner and professional Certification in HR (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Comprehensive knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including performance management/labor laws and training and experience with driving employee engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge and experience interpreting regulatory requirements and relevant state and labor laws.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
