Assembly Test Technology Development (ATTD) is looking for a Defect Reduction Engineer to join the Yield team. The Defect Reduction Engineer is responsible for monitoring the Defect performance, manage Defect excursion, defining the defect reduction roadmap, and driving yield improvement overall. Candidates will focus on internal development and manufacturing activities as well as engage with ATM counterparts to help define and drive their yield roadmap during transfer. Candidate will work with limited supervision, across organizational boundaries and in collaboration with Integration, Module engineering and Operations to establish and develop Defect Reduction and Yield Improvement Goals and Processes.

Candidate should have high tolerance of ambiguity, be effective in a fast-pace work environment and have flexibility with respect to job roles and working hours.
Candidate should be capable of leveraging the core functions within the Yield department and be self-directed and able to influence cross-functional teams.
Defect reduction responsibilities include to analysis of large and diverse data sets, apply statistical methods and draw meaningful conclusions to help direct the efforts of the organization.
Candidate will independently develop recommendations, drive yield/defect indicators and follow a report-out methodology.

Candidate must be able to develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools.

Candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits/skills:

-Problem-solving by applying formal problem-solving methodologies, analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Written and oral communication skills.

- Ability to influence stakeholders and formulate data-based recommendations directed at defect reduction and yield improvement.

This is an entry level position and compensation will be given accordingly.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.
Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Knowledge and/or experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a Master's degree (with 6+ months of relevant experience) or PhD degree (with 1+ years of experience) in Materials Science and Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science or Information Systems or Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Chemistry or Physics or any other related discipline.

Must have the required degree or expect the required degree by December 2021.

6+ months of experience in the following:

  • Data systems, analytics and machine learning (ML) techniques.
  • SQL and Python programming.

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ years of experience the following:

  • Data visualization and dashboard building, and automated analysis.
  • Knowledge of substrate manufacturing processing or other semiconductor processes.
