ICLs Trusted and Interoperable Systems and Architecture Division is looking for a data migration lead with 7+ years of experience of hands on work mapping and migrating large amounts of data of multiple subject areas from legacy systems during large system implementations. This position must be highly technical as well as able to lead collaborative meetings with multiple external stakeholders of varying technical depth and ensure progress. The data migration lead will be hands on and guide teammates to complete legacy mapping using a variety of artifacts and data mining and confirm results with the project sponsor and other parties. The candidate must be able to excel in an agile environment with frequent changes and iteratively defined requirements.

The ideal candidate would have a BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree and would like to work in a cutting-edge research software development environment. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are necessary. Experience with Medicad Management Information Systems, the MITA Framework, Health IT standards, policies, and best practices is a strong plus.

The primary work assignment would be as an information architect for Government projects serving the Justice, Public Safety, Health, and DOD Command and Control (C2) communities. Projects focus on secure sharing of information between state, local, and federal agency information systems, focusing on standards development and information sharing systems and tools. Each agency we work with is autonomous and has a unique architecture and legacy infrastructure. GTRI serves as the principal architect and integrator and provides technical guidance to numerous agencies and contractors.

The project is based in the Centergy Building at 75 Fifth Street NW Atlanta, on the Georgia Tech campus.

Job Duties:

  • Be the point person for data mapping and associated requirements from the legacy to future state system.
  • Guide supporting data mapping staff to optimize collaboration and completion.
  • Organize and coordinate all artifacts associated with data conversion.
  • Be customer-facing and able to lead and support stakeholder meetings to answer mapping questions and understand and manage the connection between system configuration and data requirements.
  • Identify and coordinate the development of transformations, curation, and other data manipulation steps required during the conversion process.
  • Support data conversion schedule and testing between legacy and future state environments.
  • Support developing a plan to conduct database unit and system tests, monitors results, and take corrective action
  • Support team in ensuring integrity and quality of data
  • Help determine transition strategy from legacy architecture to new architecture
  • Support data migration planning
    Support the analysis and resolution of data issues

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree with 7+ years of experience in data conversion and data requirements elucidation.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Excellent SQL and Relational Database background and willingness to quickly learn NoSQL.
  • Experience performing large system conversions involving multiple data domains, preferably as a lead.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and coming to agreement on mappings.
  • Experience working as part of a data team on large matrixed projects.
  • Experience analyzing and reverse engineering legacy complex data sources.
  • Experience working closely with DevOps, Security and Operations in an agile environment.
  • Experience on large integration projects.
  • Must have a team-based attitude and be skilled at building constructive and effective relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NoSQL
  • Experience with healthcare data, specifically Medicaid Management Information Systems, provider, and claims data.
  • Experience with Provider data huge plus.
  • Experience in working with AWS services and solutions development and deployment
  • Experience with REST based microservices.
  • Understanding of agile development CI/CD toolkit.
