We have an opening for a Business Analyst within the ES&H Directorate in the Environment Functional Area. You will conduct comprehensive assessments of key processes, identify improvements for environmental monitoring data functions, respond to stakeholder inquiries, and interact with clients and technical support staff to analyze data flow, reporting capabilities and implement process improvements.

This position will be filled at either the E01.2 or E01.3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Perform complex sample data processing, extraction, reporting, and analyses to detect anomalies, troubleshoot data and workflow problems, and work with available resources, stakeholders and systems to improve data delivery and integrity.
- Perform data extraction and analyses using SQL and other query tools for regulatory reporting.
- Maintain and modify Field Tracking Forms (FTFs), Chain of Custody (CoC), and complex sampling plans in coordination with environmental analysts and technicians.
- Intake, review, and process electronic data deliverables (EDDs) from contract analytical laboratories.
- Assist in archiving and electronic storage of environmental data and supporting documents.
- Provide knowledge of analytical data management, chemical nomenclature, and laboratory analyses to design and implement complex procedures, guidance documents and work-flow processes; train and mentor team members and clients to implement new process improvements and tools.
- Assess data flow and reporting capabilities for all environmental media including surface water, air particulate, air tritium, sewer, soil, vegetation and others; identify and implement improvements for data delivery and integrity, interacting with stakeholders and technical staff.
- Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

In Addition, at the E01.3 Level
- Gather and analyze data to evaluate requirements and specifications to ensure accuracy on quality control documentation and process flow.
- Facilitate and create quality control documentation both independently and as part of a team, interacting with team members, technicians, engineers, and management.
- Contribute to development and implementation of quality control documents and reports and participate in off-site testing which may require extensive travel at times.

Qualifications
- Associate degree in relevant functional discipline or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Proficiency with SQL in an ORACLE database environment and a strong understanding of database architecture and interfaces with common desktop applications, such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to gather user information, conduct preliminary analysis of related processes and workflow; generate standard and ad hoc reports.
- Experience managing data deliverables from contract analytical laboratories.
- Written and verbal communication skills to interact and collaborate professionally with others, as well as work effectively in a team environment.
- Analytical problem-solving skills with experience anticipating, identifying, and resolving complex data management issues.
- Strong organization skills, efficiency, flexibility, attention to detail, follow-through, and expertise in maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet challenging priorities.

In Addition, at the E01.3 Level
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience gathering and analyzing quality control data for accuracy and completeness to ensure all requirements are met and experience working independently or part of a team in developing quality control documentation and reports.
- Experience providing and/or defining process flow and conducting comprehensive assessments to meet quality control milestones.

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring and related work processes, including data types, terminology, chemical nomenclature and analytical testing methods.
- Working understanding of database schema and SQL joins.
- Experience with software and programming languages, like Python, Java, C++, R or ArcGIS.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
