This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storage business to SK Hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - ). The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

This is an exciting time to be at Intel - come join our Data Center NAND Division as a Data Center NAND SSD Product Development Engineer and work on one of the most advanced 3DNAND and SSD technology portfolios in the world. As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Intel possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products. As a Data Center NAND SSD Product Development Engineer, you will be part of a world-class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK hynix.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK hynix.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • SSD System Integration and Engineering

  • Understand and document SSD Product Requirements, Architecture and test plans

  • SSD Product Modeling/Simulation

  • NVMe Media Integration with SSD Systems and Media Failure Analysis

  • SSD Competitive/Comparative Analysis

  • Develop/verify scripts/tools for automation, Debug/Triage, Data collection/analysis/reporting, Comparative/Competitive Analysis

  • Identify, validate and debug various SSD issues i.e. Media, FW, SW and HW issues

  • Product related documentation, presentation

  • Perform other duties as assigned


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The candidate must have a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

Minimum 3+ months of experience in the following areas:

  • Programming and scripting (C++, Perl, Python)

  • Developing and debugging code on Windows and Linux platforms

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior Intern Experiences on relevant areas/roles

Minimum 3+ months of experience in the following areas:

  • Object oriented programming

  • OS, BIOS, and Hardware and Software interactions

  • Using version control tools such as GIT

  • SSD architecture and SSD functionality
