Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) Quality and Mission Assurance (Q&MA) Functional Learning team executes strategies that enable Q&MA specific organizational priorities and capability growth needs, works with leaders throughout the Q&MA organization as well as collaborates with Learning and Development leaders throughout RMD and the enterprise.
Our team is currently seeking a Quality Engineer (Statistical Analyst)
The statistical subject matter expert develops tools/training to raise the statistical IQ of the engineering population. Additionally, this person will provide on-call statistical consulting for factories and business decisions. This person must have good general quality engineering experience and a high level of experience consulting and applying statistical methods in an industrial setting. This position entails three main responsibilities:
Statistical consulting
Champion the effort to raise the statistics IQ at Raytheon Missiles and Defense
Leading business projects and diagnostics (not necessarily all statistics related)
Job Description:
Support the Learning and Talent Development team to create and maintain programs for professional education, certification, and mentorship
Provide on-call statistical consulting in a wide variety of situations (typically manufacturing)
Develop statistical tools for use by an engineering practitioner audience
Lead business diagnostics to determine root cause and corrective action of top level problems
Lead improvement projects to support high level business goals
Predict quality of products and services and using empirical and theoretical statistical models
Perform analysis of nonconformities to characterize failure causes as routine or special cause. Develop containment and correction plan
Develop and maintain quality metrics to drive long-term improvement
Teach statistics classes to engineering audience
Promote statistical methods as a way to make business decisions
Required Skills:
8+ years working in an industrial environment applying and developing statistical methodology
Previous professional experience in applied statistics including: Design of experiments, statistical process control, regression analysis
Previous responsibilities including:
Principal on high impact cross-functional business projects
Communicating complex statistical measures to non-technical audiences (customers, suppliers and in a team environment)
Improvement of assigned business with applied statistics
Experience in root cause corrective action
Experience with statistical software (EX: JMP/Minitab)
Experience with statistical programing (EX: R, Python)
Experience with six sigma and continuous improvement
Required Education (including Major): BS: STEM
Desired Skills:
Ability to work independently, network, and find meaningful opportunities to improve the business with applied statistics
Applied competency in general systems engineering and design principles
Highly skilled at data visualization and graphics (GGPlot/Matplotlib)
Highly skilled at developing data dashboards (Shiny/Tableau)
Desired Education: M.S. or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
