Job Description

As a part of a factory manufacturing team, the Night Shift Engineer will perform functions with the engineering support for various process modules across multiple technology nodes. In this role you will be the first response for all engineering related issues and demonstrate ownership of the duty pager from the multiple process module.

Your responsibilities would be:

  • First point of contact for all process engineering related issues such as: Tool error, Wafer and tool containment and initial response, Tool equipment troubleshooting, Process issues such as out of control out of dispo, Quality event logging QEF for discrepant material

  • Engineering representative and owner for process module examples such as: SIF buddy, Update equipment work orders based on changes, Tool targeting example dep time RF adjust APC reset temperature set, Setup gating checkout lots for defects or parameters, Layer lockout or unlock based on data, Error recovery and non-standard processing of wafers if required

  • Work with shift GLs maintenance organization to ensure the shift priorities are aligned.

  • Assist with module training.

  • End of shift summary of all issues to representative modules.

  • Communicate with people in different levels of the organization including Module Team leads Shift GLs operations managers process engineers and manufacturing engineering technicians and others.

  • Become expert in tool hardware maintenance process and critical outputs thickness FCCD etc.

Additionally, candidate must be willing to:

  • Work on a night shift compressed work week schedule. Shifts are twelve hours long and rotate from three to four days a week.

  • To wear closed shoes all day

  • Walking several miles per day, also periodically work in the interstitial and to climb and perform work on ladders

  • Willing to perform detailed visual inspection tasks


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess a 4-year STEM degree (engineering, materials science, chemistry, or physics preferred)

  • Minimum of 2 years of in equipment troubleshooting installation qualification repair or operations in semiconductor manufacturing technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of process control systems

  • Experience in computer software Microsoft Office and data base entry

  • Experience to read schematics and complex drawings diagrams
