Our team seeks a Cybersecurity Technical Writer, which is a 50% telecommuting role with onsite work in any of the following locations: Tucson, AZ, Tewksbury, Marlborough or Andover, MA, or Huntsville, AL. Capped relocation support is available.

Job Summary:
You are responsible for creating and writing various types of user documentation, including configuration guides, standard operating procedures, how-to guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, or work instructions related to cybersecurity software and other tools. As a Cybersecurity Technical Writer, you will be responsible for writing, editing, formatting, and maintaining client-facing and internal user documentation. Your efforts will have an impact on the safety and security of our nation and allies!

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Research and gather information required to document software or other cybersecurity tools
  • Determine requirements and content for the user documentation
  • Track project progress against product development schedule to ensure deliverable deadlines
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy of documentation.
  • Explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language for some audiences and in more technical detail for system users.
  • Gather information on their subjects in libraries and on the web.
  • Ensure fields flow in the correct sequence
  • Create table of contents and cite sources.
  • Follow the cybersecurity compliance life cycle.
  • Conduct online tutorials.
  • Provide updates and different editions as necessary.
  • Review manufacturer's and trade catalogs and documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of procedures and processes.
  • Convert legacy/previous formatting to latest formatting

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in either English, Communication, Technical Writing, Journalism, Computer Science, Security Management, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, STEM, or Business. Other degrees may be considered.
    • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for 2 additional years of experience.
  • Five (5) years of technical writing / technical communication experience (13 years of experience in lieu of degree)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • Current/active Secret DoD Clearance.
  • Experience with layout, development, and production of technical documentation and cybersecurity community / DoD documentation standards
  • Experience with automated publishing tools
  • Collaboration expert with experience in teaming environments
  • Experience building effective collaborative relationships
  • Experience with system security tools focused on auditing, activity monitoring, endpoint protection, etc. These may include Splunk, Forcepoint, Ivanti, etc.
  • Organizational skills to include: attention to detail, time management and ability to multitask
