Project/Unit Description

The Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks qualified individuals for the position of Cybersecurity Systems Engineer in Albuquerque, NM. The Albuquerque program office is responsible for capturing, digitizing, preserving, and disseminating information to a range of customers nationwide.

The Albuquerque and IMA Branches, as part of the Operations Division, support knowledge and technology transfer of information as well as archival of material and data that are significant to current and future sponsor research and development activities.

The Advanced Concepts Laboratory develops tailored solutions for a broad range of national security challenges through disciplined application of physics- and effects-based modeling to realizable systems, augmented with prototype development and testing. ACLs research thrusts extend across domains, and include bio-, chemical-, RF-,  and optical-sensor physics; materials science and engineering; electromagnetic theory, computation, structures, and measurements; electronic warfare techniques and applications; operational scenario modeling and simulation; traditional and asymmetric threat analysis; and ground maneuver warfare.

Job Purpose

Cybersecurity Systems Engineers perform research on external customers' enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks by conducting vulnerability analysis and assessments, penetration testing, and exploiting applications, operating systems, and networks. Cybersecurity Systems Engineers ensure proper security needs are established and maintained for: operations development, security requirements definition, security risk assessment, systems analysis, systems design, security test and evaluation, certification and accreditation, systems hardening, vulnerability testing, and scanning, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning while also providing analytical support for security policy development and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create product or system definitions and conduct initial requirements analysis.
  • Develop technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes.
  • Define/refine internal and external interfaces.
  • Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Management of existing Active Directory Domains
  • Operation of information systems in compliance with Department of Defense regulatory guidance
  • Effective operation of information systems in a disconnected and extremely remote environment
  • Leading, researching, and building on a digital forensics program for current and obsolete media formats.
  • Investigation of new storage technologies for possible inclusion in future designs
  • Development and presentation of technical details of designs for internal peer reviews and sponsor design reviews
  • Interface and coordinate with other team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited degree program relevant to this position will be considered. The candidate must have a graduation date of no later than May 2022
  • 1-5 years experience in Windows Domain administration including experience with the following concepts or technologies:
    • Powershell and V.B. Scripting
    • Active Directory objects, structures, and accounts creation, modification, and management
    • Domain server configuration and management
    • GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and DFS
    • Proficient with backup solutions
    • Deploying workstations and servers using imaging solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • 1-5 years experience in Linux System Administration -Experience working on federal government contracts
  • Highly qualified candidates will know about Microsoft Windows Active Directory domains as well as knowledge of RedHat Linux systems
  • Security+ Certification or CISSP Certification
  • Experience administering systems that comply with Risk Managed Framework (RMF) guidelines
  • Experience with Forensic Discover of Evidence Device (FRED) or other digital forensics systems
  • Experience with obsolete computer media

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
