Job Description

The Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking an entry-level Cybersecurity Engineer to support the laboratory infrastructure at the Huntsville Research Center. The ideal candidate will be educated and experienced in supporting the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-171 environments and support our efforts to obtain Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) accreditation. Additional duties include supporting cybersecurity research activities in Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) environments. Located in Huntsville, Alabama, ASL conducts world-class applied research in system modeling, simulation, analysis, testing, evaluation, and software development in support of government sponsors.

Job Duties

  • Conduct monthly Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) reviews
  • Monitor compliance dashboards related to NIST 800-171 controls
  • Perform security audits of all lab IT assets for cyber compliance
  • Generate artifacts and supporting documentation for Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) assessments
  • Work security related issues with research security in DCSA environments
  • Penetration testing for security vulnerabilities

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Computer Information Systems or related degrees.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience using Nessus, SCC, OpenSCAP, or other relevant cybersecurity assessment/remediation tools
  • Experience using device management tools to enforce cybersecurity policies
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server operating systems
  • Proficient with Office Productivity Tools
  • Experience scripting (Bash, Powershell, or similar) to automate reoccurring tasks

  • Secret Clearance

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
