Job Summary:

The Mechanical Products Directorate team (MPT) is seeking several early career Mechanical Engineers at our Tucson, AZ, plant site to support Mechanical/Electromechanical/Systems Design in precision controls mechanism / moving element designs both in development and production.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

You will be responsible for supporting technical solutions for a wide range of moving element challenges, such as control actuation systems, aerodynamic steering, thrust vectoring, attitude-and-divert maneuvering, pointing, and stabilizing of missile systems & subsystems.

Responsibility extends across supporting the entire life cycle of the product, from conceptualizing and design, to prototyping and manufacturing, integration and verification testing, through production support.

You will be expected to apply sound mechanical engineering principles to support solving complex system problems while teaming with a cross-discipline team including electrical engineering, systems engineering, flight science, manufacturing engineering, supply chain and others.


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical or Systems Engineering
  • Academic or hands-on experience with Mechanical Engineering design and/or controls/simulation
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • Academic or hands-on experience with building or testing control actuation systems, precision mechanisms or electromechanical servo mechanisms
  • Working knowledge of Engineering processes and procedures
  • Comprehension of the deconstruction of higher level tasks into discrete lower level work packages and tasks
  • Academic or hands-on experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3D modeling and mechanical drawing generation
  • Academic or hands-on experience using Matlab, Simulink, and dSpace
  • Design and manufacturing knowledge in machine parts, BLDC motors, or corrosion resistant steels and aluminum alloys
  • Knowledge of flight modeling & simulation
  • Familiarity with industry standards for system, BLDC motor, and mechanism design (AGMA, INCOSE, SAE, etc.)
  • Academic or hands-on experience in supporting design and development of test equipment for electromechanical systems that operate under high load and rate
