Raytheon Missile and Defense (RMD) has an exciting opening for a Contracts Manager in the Naval Powers (NP) Mission Area to provide principal contracts support to the Standard Missile-6 (SM-6) program. The customer is the US Navy.

We are looking for a Contracts professional that is passionate about relationships and collaboration. The successful candidate will have strong prior US Government Contracting experience and is capable of working in a collaborative team environment and to develop and maintain positive relationships with the customer and internal team. This position requires the ability to work closely with Program Managers, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and other functions to achieve business results.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of RMD through capturing follow-on and new business as well as maintain and grow current programs.
  • Proposal development and negotiation, pre and post-award contract administration
  • Serve as a valued business partner to drive creative and competitive contracting approaches.
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies that comply with company policies, mitigate risk and support accomplishment of business goals.
  • Interface with customers for contractual matters
  • Drive effective closure on contractual issues
  • Participate in and/or conduct front-end strategic assessment of business pursuits, proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition.
  • Support senior management regarding contractual and business issues.
  • Provide strategic leadership to develop innovative contracting solutions to meet program and business area objectives.
  • Draft, review and negotiate various contracts to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Summarize contract issues, research compliance matters, interpret regulations, identify risks, and formulate recommendations.
  • Act as the primary interface with customers during proposal phase, negotiations, and contract performance.
  • Negotiate sound business deals with customers and provide governance to the program team carrying out the terms and scope of the contract.
  • Work well as a member of the cross business team (CBT), and foster teamwork with both external and internal customers.
  • Handle several assignments concurrently while maintaining schedule deadlines.
  • Manage customer relationships.
  • Act as a key player in solving problems, developing solutions, and assisting the business to achieve financial and performance goals and objectives.

The successful candidate will poses the following:
  • Leadership skills to include strategic thinking, customer focus, performance and results orientation, innovation, and influential communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize actions, and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with customers and internal partners based on understanding and trust.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer relationship management
  • Understand proposal cost structures, material estimates, development costs, performance requirements, delivery schedules, and terms and conditions for accuracy and completeness


Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field
  • 8 years of experience in the field of Contract Management, Negotiations, Finance, Supply Chain, Program Management or related fields.
  • Experience with, various types of contracts (e.g. Cost Reimbursement, FFP, T&M, IDIQ, etc.), NDAs, and SOWs, etc.
  • Proven record of responsiveness with strong time management and organization skills
  • Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions in a defense contractor environment.
  • Experience with FAR/DFAR regulations and ability to apply them appropriately, with an understanding of standard Prime Contractor flow down provisions.
  • Computer proficiency, experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and shared data bases
  • Active Secret clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with negotiation and administration of major contracts and/or subcontracts
  • Experience managing portfolio of work in excess of $1B
  • Experience managing production contracts
  • Ability to understand the financial aspects of contracts such as rate structures, pricing strategies, incentives and risk quantification
  • Experience with high value proposal preparation or negotiations
  • Experience with contracting with the US Navy.
  • Understanding Intellectual Property issues.
  • Ability to think strategically and promote on-going process improvement
  • Record of meeting deliverables on time and accurately
  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • NCMA certification
