Why Do Employees Job Hop?

By: Marie Donlon

Holding onto an employee has become more and more difficult thanks to a record low (3.9 percent) unemployment rate.

Considering how easy it is for employees to effortlessly move from job to job, a recent Randstad Employer Brand Research survey has revealed the major factors that influence a job change. Among them:

  • Low pay (44 percent)

  • No or limited career trajectory (44 percent)

  • The work isn’t challenging enough (30 percent)

  • Lack of work-life balance (28 percent)

  • Lack of recognition (27 percent)

Consequently, almost half (45 percent) of the survey respondents reported that they have either changed jobs in the last year or at least plan to in the next 12 months.
