The Toughest Jobs to Fill in 2017

It is hard to imagine that years after the Great Recession (with an unemployment rate hovering around 10%) that employers would be experiencing labor shortages. However, according to information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and a CareerCast.com Jobs rated report’s 10 toughest jobs to fill in 2017, that is very much a reality for certain industries.

Some of the positions that are difficult to fill are data scientist, software engineer and registered nurse, just to name a few.

According to the research, the reasons vary from industry to industry. In some cases, the position is new (data scientist) without an established work force and/or degree path for students to pursue. In other cases, it is a matter of people being trained in that discipline.
