Machine Learning Engineer Tops Indeed's list of 25 Best Jobs

According to a new survey, machine learning engineer tops the 2019 list of best jobs in the U.S.

The survey, conducted by career-related search engine Indeed, placed machine learning engineer at number one on the list of 25 best jobs in the U.S. for 2019. The list is based on a formula that weighs factors like growth as evidenced by increased job postings and annual salary. Commanding an average annual base salary of roughly $146,000 — only third behind Agile coach and computer vision engineer — machine learning engineer job postings grew by 344% between 2015 to 2018.

The position, which involves artificial intelligence (AI) expertise, requires computer programmers to create programs that enable computers and machines to perform tasks without specific direction. According to the survey, nine of the 25 top jobs in 2019 are in the tech industry, five of which require AI skills and expertise. Some of the other tech job titles appearing on the list include computer vision engineer, data scientist and robotics engineer.
