Lack of Installers Slows Solar Expansion

turn limits expansion, increases recruitment and training costs, and can lead to more botched or substandard installations.

These are among the conclusions reported in the 2017 Solar Training and Hiring Insights Report released by the Solar Training Network, sponsored by the US Dept. of Energy. The authors suggest much closer cooperation between the industry and training providers, among other strategies, to target training opportunities in geographical areas that need installers. Owners of solar installation companies are also asking the industry as a whole to assume responsibility for producing standardized training programs and standards.
