Best Companies for Professional Development, According to Survey

By: Marie Donlon

When it comes to workplace benefits, rounding out the top five most valuable is usually, especially for the younger worker, professional development.

According to the compensation, culture and career monitoring website Comparably, professional development will improve employee attitudes and productivity and is among the top factors that employees look for in an employer, said Comparably CEO Jason Nazar.

"They want to come in, they want to take a lot of responsibility really quickly, they want to have a chance to learn and grow," Nazar said.

Likewise, Nazar believes that professional developments is critical for achieving race and gender equity in the workplace.

"There is an absolute clear lack of people of color and women in the highest role of companies... and if we're only picking from people who already have those titles, we don't really increase the pie," he said. "One of the most important things we can do to level the playing field, especially in more senior roles, is to focus on professional development."

Considering the importance of professional development, Comparably set out to rank the companies with the best professional development programs based on input from their respective employees.
