Job Purpose

The purpose of this job is to architect, design, implement, and maintain Information Technology Infrastructure within collateral and SAP spaces for GTRI efforts. Including but not limited to supporting and maintaining virtual infrastructure, servers, workstations, storage fabrics, heterogeneous operating systems, and networking infrastructure. Ensures system security needs established and maintained for operations development, security requirements definition, security risk assessment, systems analysis, systems design, certification and accreditation, systems hardening, and vulnerability scanning, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning and provides analytical support for security policy development and analysis. Maintaining backups and managing disaster recovery and business continuity plans is a core function of this role as well, along with performing routine maintenance, upgrades, and deploying new IT systems to enhance the capabilities of our laboratory.

Project/Unit Description

The Information Technology department of GTRI-SEAL in Cobb County, GA (Smyrna) is looking for a knowledgeable, motivated, and hardworking cybersecurity professional whose primary duties will be in the design, deployment, management, and administration of GTRI's secure information technology infrastructure. This professional will be expected to utilize a set of derived system specifications to implement secure, compliant systems in support of multiple sponsored research projects, as well as address a wide variety of applications that involve highly complex issues. They will also be expected to perform full system documentation under RMF, secure and update systems using Security Technical Implementation Guides, and deploy system updates to hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Architecture design (compute, hardware/virtual, OS, storage, networking, security)
  • Translate researcher IT needs into robust and scalable IT Solutions/Infrastructure
  • Contributor to the development of Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CICD) processes using DevOps and DevSecOps principles
  • Cross-Domain Data Exchange and Systems Integration
  • Implementer of Infrastructure as Code
  • Virtual machine management
  • Deploy security control configuration to systems using configuration management tools

Additional Responsibilities

  • Design information technology systems to meet the needs of various GTRI projects
  • Maintain existing systems as part of continuous monitoring and flaw remediation processes
  • Document system hardware and software baselines
  • Contribute to a shared knowledge base to document procedures and processes relating to the design, operation, and maintenance of information technology systems
  • Research solutions and respond to all Cybersecurity Tasking Orders (CTO) for our relevant Contractor to Government Interconnected Systems within a given timeframe
  • Interpret technical controls from the DAAPM, providing IT solutions to security requirements
  • Install, maintain and upgrade workstation and peripheral hardware and software within a secure space
  • Perform flaw remediation under RMF Continuous Monitoring requirements, including scanning, remediation, and validation
  • Analyze and resolve complex workstation, application, and server-related problems
  • Provide users with assistance in resolving account, software, hardware, or network-related issues
  • Participate in the creation of lab cybersecurity best practices, protocols, and procedures
  • Deploy Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 systems in a secure environment
  • Utilize PowerShell or other scripting languages to perform automation

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of job-related experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Security+ or CISSP within 6 months of hire (DoD Directive 8570.1 IAT Level II)
  • Experience with Active Directory management, PowerShell scripting, Group Policy management, Windows Server Update Services, Security Control Automation Protocol scans, and Security Technical Implementation Guidelines for Windows 10 and Server 2016 systems
  • Advanced knowledge of and skill in the installation and maintenance of information technology hardware and software, requiring a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures. Included are skills in problem-solving, decision making, customer service, system documentation, and communications
  • Full understanding of networking concepts and networked application environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Secret Clearance
  • Security+, CISSP, MCSA, CCNA, PCCET, PCNSA, DISA ACAS, ESS Administrator, LPIC-1, RHCSA, or RHCE certification
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016, Windows 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or 8, Cisco iOS, and PAN-OS operating systems
  • Experience working with Cisco switches and routers, and Palo Alto firewall/IPS devices. Familiarity with Nessus, ACAS, or other vulnerability scanning tools. Familiarity with Jira Service Desk, Footprints, or other help desk software

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
