The Computer Science Department at Utah State University is seeking applications to fill several Assistant Professor faculty positions, starting Fall Semester 2019. These are nine-month, 100% academic year tenure-track positions. Application reviews will begin in early January 2019. 
Applicants will be expected to create a research program that is consistently productive, sustainable, and nationally recognized for excellence. Applicants will also be expected to contribute effectively to the instructional mission of the university; the normal teaching load in the Computer Science Department is three semester-length courses per year, with a reduced teaching load in the first year. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate effectiveness in service to the operations and governance of the University, to their professional societies, or to the outreach and extension mission of the University.

2. One page research statement (research experience and interests, short-term research agenda, long-term research agenda, and collaboration opportunities with other faculty members)

The Computer Science Department has approximately 600 undergraduate majors, 53 M.S., 18 Ph.D. students, 13 tenure-track faculty, and 3 non-tenure track faculty. The department's BS degrees are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. USU is a Carnegie Research Doctoral extensive University with over 20,000 students.
USU is located in Logan, Utah, which is nestled in a mountain valley 80 miles north of Salt Lake City. Applicants should have a strong record of prior research, show significant potential for attracting external research funding, and have excellent communication skills. The department is interested in strengthening its focus in Data Science, Computer Security, Software Engineering, and Human Computer Interaction, but strong applicants in other areas may be considered.
Applicants must have completed a PhD in computer science by the time of appointment. The position requires demonstrated research success, a significant potential for attracting external research funding, excellence in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, the ability to supervise student research, and excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
