This is a multi-level position Computer Network Technologist I-G06 or Computer Network Technologist II-G07 based on the candidates qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and requirements for the position.
Must have an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance (must be adjudicated within the last 6 years) to be considered. Job Description A Computer Network Technologist I maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Configure, deploy, and maintain encryption devices on classified networks. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages Maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or related field experience in lieu of degree
Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and intrusion detection systems
Current cabling and fiber standards
Demonstrates firewall and access control list knowledge
Demonstrates knowledge of Visio diagramming and design capabilities
Ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures
U. S. Citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret level Security clearance (investigated in the last 6 years)
Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications
Experience with telecommunication systems
Ability to work under time constraints
Experience with classified computing
Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance
Minimum Education required:
B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or related field experience in lieu of degree (2 years Exp=1 year of completed college credit)177640
