Job Description

The Components Research Integration Team is responsible for delivering novel solutions to advance the performance and scaling of logic and memory transistors. The role involves leading research and development in order to model, architect, develop, measure, quantify, and ultimately transfer a technology to manufacturing that significantly scales or improves performance of current best logic and memory cells/devices. Collaboration is required with technology development and research teams in defining goals, developing the vision and value proposition, aligning strategy and driving fast paced silicon development to meet timelines.

Components Research Integration Engineers are responsible for:

Exploring novel solutions to meet the demands of continued performance and scaling of logic and memory transistors.

  • Leverage device physics theory, materials, chemistry and process innovations to drive research on novel devices, transistors, basic logic circuits, and memory cells.
  • Work collaboratively with device, module, reliability, analytical labs (SIMs, TEM, XPS, Raman, TXRF etc) across fabrication sites to drive experiments
  • Generate relevant data and models for the advancement of all basic elements for transistor performance and scaling.
  • Use understanding of semiconductor device physics to quantify and benchmark current experiments with best known methods, literature/academia, and best in class.
  • Mentorship of external research in academia and industry consortia in order to fill Intel's internal research pipeline

Activities include coordinating semiconductor device fabrication experiments in both 300mm development and/or coupon line facilities, analytical data collection and communication in a team environment with a broad spectrum of experts in the fields of materials, electronics, physics, and chemistry.

This is an entry level position and compensation will be given accordingly.


You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related discipline.

6+ months experience in following areas:

  • Semiconductor device fabrication and physical characterization techniques
  • Semiconductor device physics and device characterization

Preferred Requirements:

  • Courses covering basic engineering discipline including math, physics, chemistry and programming language
  • Emphasis in Solid State Material and Semiconductor Device Physics, digital and analog Circuit Design and Analysis, CMOS Process Technology
  • Hands-on experience with AC/DC electrical testing and equipment such as oscilloscope, pulse generator, semiconductor parameter analyzer (CV-IV)
  • Proficiency in design of experiment, statistical analysis methods and analysis software, such as JMP.
