Job Summary:

The Electrical Products Team (EPT) is responsible for the design, test, manufacture, and support of advanced electrical subsystems (target detection, target tracking, guidance, navigation, signal processing, and communication) to be utilized in extreme battle-field environments. The Common Electronic Products Department, a part of EPT, is currently searching for 2022 Summer Interns.

A successful candidate is one who can participate in a multi-disciplined team and properly apply engineering tools and processes.

A candidate with interests, studies, research or experiences which are technically broad will be a possible fit in our electrical subsystems group. All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon Missiles & Defense. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects, but will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to shadow experienced professionals in order to better learn about real industry positions.



Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Performing electrical test of prototype electronics and troubleshooting to the component level utilizing schematics and test equipment.
  • Assist with developing architectures for new designs, to support the capture, and technical execution within the Subsystem Design and Architecture Department.
  • Work with Engineers on creating and documenting the characteristics of a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design from conception to manufacturing that includes library part creation, schematic capture, component placement, routing, gerber / ODB++ file creation, and all documentation using the Mentor Graphics and BluePrint toolsets.
  • EMI/EMC analysis design and test.
  • Support the circuit card design process by selecting, specifying, and determining application adherence for electrical components.


This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
  • (Freshman Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program
  • (Sophomore Technical Intern)- must have completed 30 credit hours by start of internship
  • (Junior Technical Intern)- must have completed 60 credit hours of college by start of internship
  • (Senior Technical Intern)- must have completed 90 credit hours of college by start of internship
  • (Post-Graduate Technical Intern)- must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate by the start of Summer 2022 in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance


Qualifications We Value:

  • Working knowledge of IPC and MIL specifications and design guides.
  • Demonstrate strong project coordination and task management skills.
  • Have the ability to plan projects, with timely engagement of related functions to ensure effective balance of risk and rigor throughout the development process.
  • Experience with MatLab.
  • Experience or classwork related to EMI/EMC analysis design and test.
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Technical working knowledge of electronic components.
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
