The Apple Product Color Lab (APCL) is responsible for maintaining and distributing color material master standards. The Color Standard Specialist will lead all activities in the lab, including the measurement, certification and distributing of color standards.

Key Qualifications

• Superior color acuity
• Understanding of basic color theory and CIELAB, CIELCh systems
• Familiarity with color metrology instruments, including spectrophotometer, gloss meter. Ability to learn new methods as needed.
• Strong organization skills with attention to detail to manage color library
• Solid experience conducting visual assessments of color match samples
• Familiar with color quality control in high volume and high color variety environment
• Experience developing repeatable and reproducible color measurement methods
• Strong ability to follow schedules and meet deadlines
• Skilled with general office productivity software suites
• Demonstrated flexibility and resourcefulness in a fast pace environment

Work closely with Industrial Design to identify color standard materials for new colors and finishes. Maintain Master Standard library to stringent color requirements.

Maintain Color Standards Library
Create and document digital color standards
Measure, visually assess and certify physical color standards
Maintain color standards within certification
Organize and archive master standards in library
Troubleshoot color metrology and storage issues

Project Management and Distribution
Develop, document and standardize processes
Receive and process incoming materials
Monitor stock and order replenishments from suppliers as needed
Receive and process orders and handle distribution
Being able to efficiently process incoming orders and distribute requested materials within tight timeline will be critical to success

Instrumentation and Maintenance
Maintain color metrology instrument calibrations and annual maintenance
Develop and ensure good metrology practices
Scale capabilities as needed
Lead expansion of facilities and equipment as needed
Be flexible and adapt processes to volume and requirement changes
Quality control
Evaluate color samples for high volume production
Lead and train vendors on standardized color evaluation processes
