The RMD DT Digital Business Infrastructure (DBI) team delivers shared infrastructure solutions and services to enable the transformation of the RMD business. These capabilities include Enterprise Common Classified networks, as well as on premise, hybrid, and commercial cloud & DevOps infrastructure development, deployment, and sustainment. Additionally, the DBI team enables business transformation through factory / operational technology service integration and modernization and Engineering lab standardization and cyber hardening.

As Cloud Services Principal Computer Systems Engineer in our Program Resource Center (PRC) team youll be part of a highly skilled group, delivering cutting edge IT/DT solutions, while supporting a prestige hosting service.

Responsibilities to anticipate:
  • Work with internal research and development leads on assessing their compute and storage needs, and provision services for them using the latest in technology
  • Develop standard server images and maintain them for patches and updates
  • Create and deploy virtual machines for our critical strategic initiatives
  • Maintain a hyper converged infrastructure providing record beating standup times
  • Research new infrastructure technology trends, assessing their utility and developing concept of operations for deployment within the PRC.
  • Assist in managing public cloud resources, including administration of cloud costs and utilization
  • Ensure that our environment maintains the ability to handle Classified Data through a rigorous security posture and the implementation of RMF controls
  • Manage and triage support requests through ticketing system, while carefully documenting updates and/or resolution.
  • Provide detailed weekly status reports

This role will be filled at a P4 level. (Principal System Administrator

This position requires a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret from Dept. of Defense) to be obtained within 1 year of start date.

This role is based in Tewksbury, MA (primary) with occasional travel our Andover, MA location. If necessary, relocation is available to the selected applicant if they are qualified per company policy.


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • 8+ years professional experience
  • Bachelors degree or additional 2 years of Technology/Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for each 1 year of college.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. Except in rare cases, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Significant Linux system administration experience
  • RedHat Satellite Server administration
  • 2+ years experience with scripting/automation tools such as Chef, Ansible or Puppet
  • Significant knowledge of virtualization, e.g., VMWare / HyperV / Acropolis / KVM
  • Experience creating technical documentation, such as writing technical implementation guides
  • Security+ certification or willingness to obtain one within 6 months of employment
  • Capable troubleshooting skills
Qualifications We Value:
  • Experience with Windows, including Active Directory, Windows 10 and Server 2019
  • Experience with public Cloud implementations, e.g., AWS, Azure
  • Familiarity with hyper converged infrastructure, such as VxRail, Nutanix, SimpliVity
  • Experience scripting in languages such as Ruby, Powershell, BASH or Python
  • Understanding of physical and virtualized storage (e.g., VSAN) and networking (e.g., NSX)
  • Working knowledge of high-performance computing technologies
  • Familiarity with DoD security configuration requirements, hardening procedures and settings
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments
  • Significant teamwork and collaboration skills. Customer service focused
  • Effective communication skills (both oral and written)
