The U.S. Navy’s premier open-air Electronic Warfare (EW) test and evaluation range is seeking a highly qualified technical leader to be their Chief Engineer. The position is within the China Lake Ranges EW Systems Division, historically known as Echo Range. The Chief Engineer is the technical authority for the EW Division which has responsibility for providing EW capabilities throughout the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division (NAWCWD) Ranges at both China Lake and Point Mugu, CA.

 

Major responsibilities include:

  • Systems engineering for integration of EW Threat Systems across the NAWCWD Ranges
  • Coordination of system interfaces and configuration control across the Division and Range levels
  • Development and coordination of investment roadmaps
  • Working across a wide spectrum of personnel and functions from range operational personnel to engineering staff and leadership to achieve EW Division goals
  • Interaction at the senior leadership level across Dept. of Defense and foreign partner defense organization relative to solving test & evaluation requirements

 

Requirements

A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of radar operations, electronic counter measures, and the full spectrum of electronic warfare techniques is required. The EW Systems Division Chief Engineer acts in a problem solving role across the NAWCWD Ranges as the technical authority for the EW Systems Division, including the operation, sustainment, development and fielding of range capabilities based on traceable requirements under robust configuration management. The EW Systems Division Chief Engineer interacts with customers to analyze complex mission requirements, decompose them into range requirements, and identify capability gaps that need to be addressed to ensure mission success. The EW Systems Division Chief Engineer shall be able to work complex systems to include weapons, aircraft, foreign systems, and be able to solve highly challenging and complex problems.

 

Experience is additionally highly desired in the following areas:

  • Application and tailoring of industry-standard system engineering methodologies.
  • Program management or support, to include weapons, aircraft, and a multi-disciplinary approach to complex and diverse systems
  • Logistics, supply chain analysis, spares and sparing
  • Maintaining operational readiness of complex systems.
  • Application of radar systems in integrated air defense systems.
  • Understanding and familiarity with cybersecurity practices.

 

Position requires the ability to obtain/maintain an active TS clearance and eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
