As a part of the Battery Engineering group, this role involves developing, integrating, and qualifying advanced electrolytes for next generation cell designs. The role includes responsibility for design development, establishing equipment specifications and process development. The candidate will work closely with internal and external teams, vendors, and technology partners on related technology development from prototype phase to new product introduction.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in polymer science / process engineering with emphasis on electrolytes for lithium rechargeable cell designs
  • Solid understanding of polymer electrolyte technology and related characterization techniques
  • Experience in scaling up components / designs from lab to pilot line
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to clearly explain technical decisions based on data and results
  • Motivated, self-starter with effective time management skills, strong process approach to area of focus and data driven to guide activities and next steps
  • Proficiency in quality tools knowledge as applied to new product development and manufacturing systems including SPC, design of experiments and statistical analysis

Description
- Demonstrate expertise, ideation and realization in developing advanced lithium rechargeable cell designs
- Position requires hands-on development in laboratory
- Identify key performance metrics and technical evaluation of polymer electrolytes formulations including chemical components
- Devise and execute required synthesis reactions
- Develop and execute polymer coating processes
- Identify failure mechanisms and develop solution strategies
- Establish electrolyte specifications, equipment capability, SOPs and design assembly / integration techniques
- Prepare project updates and reports to management
- Leverage literature and industry publications to advance technology
- Some travel to external vendors, suppliers, and technology partners expected

Education & Experience

B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field
