The team within Apple's Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) Governance & Planning organization is responsible for the annual IS&T Capital Planning cycle, and manages the underlying processes which govern how information systems projects across Apple are defined, scoped, budgeted, approved, and tracked.

Our team is the functional / business owner of the complete Capital Planning tool set. In addition, we are a key contributor in IS&T's Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process and service-based cost analysis. We work closely with other groups to identify gaps across these processes and the underlying information systems. We collaborate with other functional & technical teams to improve processes, systems, and data availability / quality. Apple's executive leadership utilize Information created and led by our team for key investment and operational decisions

In the Business Analyst role, you will have several duties. You will learn and be responsible for the IS&T Capital Planning business process, mastering the activities, workflow, and delivery of projects to completion. You will gain a thorough understanding of the financial, project, and related data and will analyze, manipulate, and report on this information in various ways. You will become an authority in the CP information system toolset and will also have exposure to several other related Apple IT applications. You will also partner with other team members on process and systems improvement initiatives in the CP domain

Key Qualifications

  • You possess a basic understanding of Capital Planning activities as they relate to IT projects
  • You have previous participation experience in an IT project in areas such as process design, requirements definition, functional configuration, testing, and end-user training
  • You command hands-on experience in reporting, analytics, and data analysis, and the ability to package and present the data in meaningful ways
  • Your attention to detail, particularly with respect to data trends, patterns, and anomalies is impeccable
  • You have the uncanny ability to acquire knowledge of, and suggest improvements to, business processes and procedures
  • Aptitude for IT systems in terms of becoming a "power user" / SME
  • Proficient with office productivity software and project planning applications
  • Knowledge of IT financials, purchase request / purchase order / invoice, and related general accounting principles
  • Ability to work independently and drive assigned projects from start to finish
  • Capable of multi-tasking across assignments that vary in breadth, depth, complexity, and importance
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact (in person, by phone, by email) at different levels of detail with Capital Planning participants and customers
  • Confirmed ability as a problem solver


Learn, master, and execute the IS&T Capital Planning process

Team up with other Capital Planning team members to execute various aspects of the process

Become a functional guide of the future Capital Planning toolset. This entails gaining an in-depth understanding of system functionality, data model, and relationships to upstream and downstream systems

Ability to function as the main point of contact for Capital Planning customers regarding process and toolset questions

Extract, analyze, and present data from multiple sources to answer process and financial questions

Write and deliver Capital Planning communications - emails, newsletters, web-based articles, etc.

Create tool and process documentation and deliver training on the same

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree or above

Additional Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years experience in a combination of business analyst and / or process analyst roles
  • 1 - 3 years experience leading or participating on any type of IT project
  • Familiarity with the Broadcom Clarity PPM application is highly beneficial
