Job Summary:

The Business Development (BD) Director position plays a key role in qualifying and winning new business, developing and executing strategy, and customer development. This experienced professional must manage and lead a team to identify and understand market needs to growth, work with existing customers and establish new customers, develop strategies and deploy tactics to execute and meet annual operating plans for the Land Warfare and Air Defense (LW&AD) Mission Area.

This position reports to the Requirements and Capabilities Executive at LW&AD Mission Area and works closely with several Program Area Directors (PADs) within LW&AD. This BD professional supports the development of PADs strategies, briefs leadership, and leads business development, opportunity shaping, proposal management and capture in support of annual bookings plan. Customers cut across the Army enterprise and reside at several locations. You will participate in customer wants/needs tracking and assessment, and will bring broad market knowledge to assist in identification and qualification of new business opportunities. Lead development of capability white papers, customer presentations, and develop and manage marketing materials consistent with Raytheon Technologies policy and LW&AD strategy and technology roadmaps.

This leader will also be the subject matter expert for the LW&AD Mission Area product to the customer and will serve as the leader for all actions, opportunities and customers stationed at relevant Army, USMC, and SOF Developmental Commands, Battle Labs, Program Managers, and Requirements Directorates at Redstone Arsenal, AL, Quantico, VA, and Ft Benning, GA, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ and Detroit Arsenal, MI. This position can be located nearby key customers, Ft. Benning, GA or Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Formulate and lead competitive (offense and defense) strategies and actions to win pursuits: understand strategic environment, in particular competitor strengths, weaknesses and strategies. Execute competitor intelligence gathering efforts to help Raytheon Technologies businesses better understand and counter competitor actions. Seek every opportunity to promote Raytheon Technologies solutions over competitor solutions.
  • Pipeline Development. Supports the LW&AD Requirements and Capabilities team to identify, and develop new business opportunities, and positions new business resources to achieve LW&ADs growth objectives. Customer account value exceeds $2.5B.
  • Lead and manage a team of R&C professionals, providing coverage across the portfolios diverse set of customers.
  • Coordinate with functional leaders at LW&AD and associated PADs on all activities related to meeting performance objectives and managing pursuits.
  • Lead the Raytheon Technologies Enterprise Next Generation Combat Vehicle and Soldier Lethality Cross-Functional Team working group ensuring RTX activities across the enterprise are de-conflicted and synchronized with customers.
  • Support participation in the enterprise-wide Future Vertical Lift Cross Functional Team working group by providing participants and guidance to activities.
  • Contribute at the executive level as a member of the RTX team nominating and coordinating RTX content into the Armys Project Convergence effort, defining capabilities and force structure to meet emerging future needs.
  • Coordinate activities of supporting consultants within LW&AD Mission Area.
  • Customer/Competitor Intelligence. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers and clearly articulates to LW&AD business leadership customer needs.
  • Supports the development of the LW&AD Mission Area product development and marketing strategies to achieve business goals aligned with customer plans and programs.
  • Focus on the customer, understand strategic environment, threat capabilities, problems, priorities, limitations and requirements. Understand how the customer perceives capability and capacity gaps. Create opportunities to help develop requirements. Shape opportunities to explain and promote Raytheon Technologies solutions.
  • Know Raytheon Technologies products, services and emerging technologies. Prepared to explain capabilities to customer, solving both short-term and emerging gaps/requirements.
  • Sustain an ethical and professional environment, including a strong foundation for diversity, equality and inclusion.
  • Possess highest standards of leadership & integrity; ethical standards beyond reproach.
  • Travel (domestic) approximately 50%

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors degree within STEM, Business or related field
  • 14 years experience in business development, program management, technology development, or related experience with Army/USMC requirements development and/or Army/USMC acquisition
  • Experience with US Military requirements development process and/or the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)
  • Experience with US Government Planning, Programming, Budget and/or Execution (PPBE) process
  • Experience with Army requirements development and/or Army acquisition
  • An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance

  • Established relationships with key leaders within all services at the Army and / or USMC Developmental community and Battle Labs
  • Firm understanding of US Army Infantry, Marine Corps Infantry, SOF Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP)
  • Experience in Robotics and Air-to-Ground technologies
  • Strong personal computer skills including a high level of proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
