Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) System Engineering Division (SEN) is currently seeking a Build and Release/DevOps Engineer for a research faculty position in the Advanced Human Integration Branch (AHIB). The position will enhance team performance by supporting and advancing a robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery framework across software development, integration, test, and release environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Manage IT infrastructure needed to support software code development in dedicated and/or cloud environments
  • Oversee code releases
  • Analyze and select software deployment models
  • Direct software testing to validate release and monitor performance after release
  • Prepare test data, analyze results, troubleshoot problems, and communicate issues back to the development team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

10% - 25% travel

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Information Technology, or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Information Technology, or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong scripting skills and experience with Bash and Python
  • Experience with Linux administration and Configuration Management (Ansible)
  • Experience working on small/mid-sized teams accomplishing complex software/systems development and release efforts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with build tools such as Maven, Gradle, and Make
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practices, artifact management, and automation pipelines
  • Android, Java, and C development experience

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
