Job Description

The Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) is seeking an enthusiastic and technically qualified candidate to fill a leadership position for the Digitally Integrated Architecture & Requirements Branch (DIAR) Branch within the Software Engineering and Architecture Division (SEAD). This individual will lead a team of systems engineers who are building digital models of complex systems. Branch capability areas include concept of operations, high-level conceptual architecture development, and requirements development and management. The DIAR branch will focus on the decomposition of requirements and the creation of system specifications (the left side of the Systems Engineering (SE) V) to define concept of operations, high-level conceptual architecture development, and requirements development and management.

Job Duties

  • Facilitate systems engineering activities to accomplish enhanced communications, specification and design precision, system design integration, and reuse of system artifacts
  • Provide technical expertise to the team in the areas of digital systems engineering, modeling tool usage, and systems engineering methodology
  • Guide organizational and technical growth and provide focused support for the growing sponsor needs
  • Coordinate team communications to ensure situational awareness across multiple projects
  • Coordinate staff planning and assignments and business development activities
  • Coordinate activities with other MBSE Branch Heads in SEAD
  • Direct business development activities to include sponsor engagement and promoting branch capabilities to internal units and external organizations
  • Develop proposals and white papers for sustained branch growth

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field of study and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field of study and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field of study.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field of study and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field of study and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field of study and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience using Dassault (No Magic) Cameo modeling tool suite
  • Experience with requirements development and management
  • Experience with Interface definition across multiple subsystems
  • Familiarity with the various phases of the Systems Engineering life cycle
  • Familiarity with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering with the Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering with the OMG Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience with DoD Intelligence communities
  • Experience with the DoD Acquisition Process
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture Tools (Commercial or open-source)
  • Experience with the development of an integrated system model (SysML and DoDAF Diagrams)
  • Experience managing technical activities for a Model-Based Systems Engineering Team

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
